Worker Barricades WWII Memorial For A Second Time Today

Worker Barricades WWII Memorial For A Second Time Today

Yesterday President Obama knew that there were veterans on their way to see their memorial, and to prove his point that he wasn’t going to negotiate with republicans on defunding the government- he made it to where they couldn’t visit. In fact, his administration specifically rejected their request to visit their memorial.

After WWII veterans crashed through the barricades blocking them from their memorial, which made headlines around the country President Obama wasn’t pleased.

The memorial never had to be shut down. There are no tickets to be sold, no gates to go through, no staff to encounter at the memorial. In fact, you could liken the memorial to a sidewalk. People visit it day and night- 24 hours a day. The only time it may be “closed” is when it is fenced off for construction purposes.

Regardless, Washington DC is at it again-

Today the feds tried to barricade the memorial again. It should be known that it actually costs more money to pay the above pictured worker and rent the equipment to block off the memorial than it actually costs to keep the memorial “open” since there technically are no running operational costs.

However, the WWII veterans weren’t taking it lightly today. They crashed through the gates yet again for a second time assisted by Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill. This time the group of honor-flight WWII veterans were from Missouri, Illinois and Michigan. The Obama administration’s attempt to use veterans as political collateral is proving difficult, as they refuse to allow their voices and service to go unheard.

Honor Flights Chairman James McLaughlin has vowed that veterans will continue to come as they did today.

According to the National Park Service, the memorial remains closed, but veterans can now have access.

But still, why just veterans? Again, there is no operational cost.

Obama doesn’t understand honor, and neither does his “wife.” Remember when she was caught saying “All this for a damn flag?” He didn’t disagree, he nodded IIRC.

WAKE UP- Personally I think you are the dumb one, the whole idea of have the house and senate is to negotiate so everyone is happy and If they are at a standstill the president is supposed to help negotiations not say
“I WILL NOT NEGOTIATE” all the people in this country are not democrats, and it is a proven fact that the people DO NOT WANT OBAMACARE, the same amount, if not more, will still be without health insurance.

Obama I am almost glad that my father, a WWII veteran, is not here to see this.
You are the worst person who has ever attempted to lead our nation – ever.
Those in Congress, Pelosi, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, so many of them, really have no idea what life is like out here, what the problems are or how to solve them.
Obama – for shutting down what wasn’t yours to shut down in the first place I pray you will find no rest for your head, no peace in your life and no happiness in simple things any longer.

I served my country for 11 years, not knowing that I would become disabled. Now the “benefits” that were promised me are in jeopardy because our “president” and “law makers” are more concerned about those who already have more wealth than they could spend, getting more wealth. While I, whose family of five must survive on what little “benefit” I receive, is consideted “non essential.” Those “benefits” were promised me for faithfully serving my country, and should not be used as a bargaining chip to make the wealthy even more wealthy.

You morons blame the president because the Republican party shuts the government down over a vote they lost years ago. They knew this bill would NEVER pass but the house sends it at the last possible time? Their goal was to cause a shutdown because they knew their supporters were not very intelligent and would misplace the blame. Good going sheep!

It figures that the vets who helped build the empire are now kicked in the rear by it. They should have refused to fight.

There is no law against free assembly in D.C, right? I think a whole lot of citizens need to peacefully and lawfully clog up D.C. Give them some pressure from the people and their representatives to those that call all that disagree with them extremists, anarchists, and tyrants. Our forefathers wouldn’t put up with this stupid crap.

From a Canadian. Leave the Veterans alone. They have done enough already. Let them live their lives in dignity and let them honor their fallen brothers and sisters with Pride. Stop making this about you *Government* and start realizing that their sacrifice allows you the Freedoms you enjoy. Even the Freedom to put up a barricade despite how Unprofessional it truly is.

p.s. Get off your lazy butts and get back to work while you are at it.

They had all the “security” forces in place last month and some bozo walked right in to the Lincoln Memorial and splattered green paint all over- The security people don’t seem all that “essential.” I’m sure we could rally enough veterans in an hour who undertake the job of caring for the monuments until the government sobers up. by the way- the military is still on the job…can’t they handle the job? Of course not, Obama wants to punish the people, make us suffer because he’s in a snit.

Thank you for writing what you did, I sit here printing off emails from friends to the WWII veterans and making cards tonight for one of those “Honor Flights” that is going to DC this week from Dallas, These veterans have made so many sacrifcies, so what good is it to block or even make a big deal about it and putting up barracades where there were none before, and taking away the dreams of these service personnel to see an Memorial probably for their last time. It makes no sense to me, makes more drama for no reason, and just places additional stress on many when all they want to do is see something they may have waited years to see.

It’s all about control. They have to show it or risk people realizing that the government isn’t all powerful, all knowing, and must be obeyed without question.

As a sign at the Memorial said, “NORMANDY WAS CLOSED WHEN WE GOT THERE, TOO.”

And as Mark Levin said tonight … if one of these Men is touched by the authorities, look for a half-million to descend upon DC to stand with him.

  26. October 3, 2013 at 12:23 am

Why, in the ‘land of the free’ is so much of the nation’s places of interest so ‘controlled’ by federal staff?? Why not place them in private hands? There’s simply NO NEED to have government run so much stuff. It just exemplifies the real nature of government, and that is of a controlling ‘do as you’re told’ band of dictatorial bureaucrats. WE DON’T NEED THEM, and I hope that the veterans protest is the start of a much much bigger freedom from government movement. We’ve had the TEA party, now it’s time for the RAG (Reduce Administrative Government) party. Taking much of the govt controlled PoCs out of their hands would not just mean a significantly smaller federal budget, but also much of the services would continue despite these budget deadlocks, which ,must be a positive development. Come on America, get off your backsides and demand change. If the veterans can do it, so can everyone.

THE WWII VETS ARE IGNORING THE KING’S DECREE – THEY TOOK DOWN THE FENCES YESTERDAY AND TODAY. WAY TO GO – Thank YOU Thank YOU Thank YOU. This is how MEN OF HONOR behave – showing US, once again how to face down EVIL – how to stand together against TYRANNY – how to join together FOR WHAT IS GOOD AND HONORABLE. barrack HUSSEIN obama – DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN IDIOT THEY ARE MAKING YOU LOOK LIKE TO THE WHOLE WORLD? (even little children are starting to snicker at you)

As an active servicemember, this is an utter disgrace. I’m not even talking about the political side of it (whether I agree with it or not is null-and-void, given that I am pretty much under orders to maintain impartiality, at least in public commentary), but the ethical side. You have to think, these brave men (and I’m sure a few women, from the auxiliaries) who survived one of the world’s most devastating and total conflicts, who had men they considered their brothers die around them, just want to walk the area set aside for the remembrance of their fallen comrades. That’s it. They aren’t there to protest, they aren’t there to make a point, they’re there to honor the legacy of those they served with… and they aren’t being allowed to for reasons beyond my grasp.

And I can say with almost utter certainty that this wasn’t to make a point, due to the mentioning that they were Honor Flight participants — Honor Flight being an organization that goes out of its way to allow veterans unable to otherwise make the trip go the place where their sacrifices and losses are honored (I should know, my base regularly sends volunteers to Honor Flight so that those of us who serve now can, in the words of the Sailor’s Creed I hold dear to my heart, “represent the fighting spirit… of those who came before [us] to defend freedom and democracy around the world”). There’s an honor flight right now in the Chicago area, shipmates of mine are participating… I’m guessing, then, that we shouldn’t even bother?
