“I intend to speak until I am no longer able to stand,” says Ted Cruz. Taking a note from the historic Rand Paul filibuster, Curz is suited up for a long night.
There is live coverage of the event broadcasting right now on C-Span 2.
Cruz and Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-NV) had a heated exchange yesterday when Cruz began floating the idea that he would filibuster. Senate Minority Leader McConnell (R-KY) also opposes Cruz’s strategy, but not even members of his own party can stop Cruz.
It should be noted that Cruz is not technically filibustering right now. Harry Reid already set time aside for the vote tomorrow. Cruz’s only hope is to rally support from around the country through his actions that will send a clear message to Washington DC.
